Employees from all of Detroit Mercy’s campuses are invited to attend the annual President’s Convocation on Tuesday, Aug. 16 in the Student Fitness Center on the McNichols Campus.
Convocation formally opens the new academic year and will include President Donald B. Taylor’s State of the University address, where he will present his vision for Detroit Mercy. Attendees will also hear reports from the vice presidents for Academic Affairs, Finance and Administration, Enrollment & Student Affairs and University Advancement on important updates and initiatives that are underway across our campuses.
Information and dates for upcoming events will be shared, including: President Meet and Greets for employees and students; University Forums (formally Fiscal and University Briefings); Campus Beautification events; and more. We will also welcome new colleagues, announce the Faculty Recognition Awardees, recognize our emeriti faculty and present the Agere ex Missione Mission Leadership Awards to a staff member, an administrator and a faculty member.
In order to assist in planning for food and seating, please complete this brief survey by Monday, August 8 if you are planning to attend.
The President’s Convocation Day activities will begin with breakfast at 9:15 a.m. and the program will begin at 10:00 a.m.
After the program, attendees will move to the new plaza on the south side of the Student Union. Boxed lunches will be available so we can share a meal, enjoy games (on the lawn and in the Student Union lower level) and, most importantly, introduce ourselves to new community members and renew old friendships. Casual summer attire is recommended so you can enjoy the morning and afternoon activities.
For those who are unable to attend in person, the program will be shown live through a Zoom webinar. In order to view the webinar, you must register by 5 p.m. on August 15. After you register, you will receive a link for the webinar.
