The Detroit Mercy community is invited to experience the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius through the lens of personal and systemic racism, using Patrick Saint-Jean, S.J.’s book The Spiritual Work of Racial Justice as a guide.
You can participate in person from 4-5:15 p.m. Wednesdays Oct. 5 and 19 and Nov. 2 and 16 in the Student Union Conference Room 208 (near the Ballroom) or virtually through Zoom from 8-9:15 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 6 and 20 and Nov. 3 and 17. Register online here.
Participants are asked to commit to the entire series as it is important to complete the reflection as a community. If needed, participants can change formats if needed to accommodate schedules.
The first 30 Detroit Mercy participants will receive a free book thanks to the Office of Mission Integration. Please pick up this book from the University Ministry Office after you have registered. Please read the Introduction and Week One of the book by the first meeting.
Each gathering will begin with a large group reflection by a guest speaker and end in a small group discussion.
This program is sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, University Ministry, Office of Mission Integration and Gesu Catholic Church.
