A virtual Mercy Peace Forum, featuring Joanne Sheehan, activist for peace and justice, is set for Monday, March 20 from 7-8:15 p.m.
The virtual event and discussion is free, but registration is required. Registrants will receive an email with a Zoom link.
Sheehan has been a nonviolence activist, organizer and trainer with War Resisters League (WRL) since the 1970s and a former chair of War Resisters International (London, 1998-2006). She co-founded the WRL New England Regional Office in 1984 and continues as the coordinator. She has worked on many nonviolent campaigns including feminism and nonviolence, anti-nuclear weapons and power, countering military recruitment, youth empowerment and economic conversion of the military-industrial complex.
Sheehan has lectured throughout the world on nonviolence.
The event is organized and co-sponsored by the Peace History Society along with universities sponsored by the Religious Sisters of Mercy, including Georgian Court University, Gwynedd Mercy University, University of Saint Joseph and Detroit Mercy.
