Non-class members are invited to participate during the classes on March 29, which run from 10-10:50 a.m. and 12-12:50 p.m.

Bombingham, the novel that is part of the reading list for the course, tells the story of a boy’s turbulent coming of age, set in Birmingham, Ala. during the Civil Rights Movement in 1963. More specifically, it’s set against the backdrop of the Children’s March and the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church—and other instances of terrorism from that year.

Grooms has recently retired from his position as professor of Creative Writing at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

If interested in joining, please contact Barry by email at barrymg@udmercy.edu for the Zoom links, one for each class.
