The McNichols Campus Library is hosting a unique, 100-year-old display through the end of October.
The display features the art of the late local artist Pauline Locher and highlights an art exhibit that raised funds for University of Detroit scholarships a century ago. Stop by the library to see Locher’s paintings and find out how they made their way to the library after all of these years, as well as their place in the larger 1923 exhibit that took place on the University’s Jefferson Avenue campus, long before the McNichols Campus was constructed.
The story is mainly one of family, connection and memory, but with a glimpse into a unique event that feature the work of some heavy hitters in the Detroit artists community of the day, which helped U-D students.
