The African American Studies program at Detroit Mercy is producing a Zoom webinar on the ongoing crises in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), efforts to resettle refugees in Michigan and the role our consumption plays in fueling violence and displacement. The webinar is set for Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.
It’ll feature:
- Charles Tshimanga-Kashama, Associate Professor of History at the University of Nevada-Reno. He is the author of Youth, Education and Society in the Congo/Kinshasa, 1890-1960 (2001); and co-author of The Bakongo Alliance (Abako) and The Independence of Belgian Congo: Ten Years of Kongo Nationalism, 1950-1960 (2003).
- Jado Ndaruhuye, Vice President of the Congolese Banyamulenge in the United States and Refugee Public Health Community Engagement Coordinator at Bethany Christian Services of Michigan.
