Trauma-informed pedagogy workshop set for March 27

The ReBUILDetroit Inclusive Teaching Learning Community is excited to host Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the Master of Arts Program in Clinical Psychology Lee Eshelman for a workshop about trauma-informed pedagogy.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, March 27 from 12:45- 2 p.m. inside the Ford Life Sciences Building, Room 116.

Over the recent years, the challenges arising from the ongoing global pandemic and sociopolitical discord have created chronic uncertainty, upheaval and stress in the lives of many. The negative impact of trauma can disrupt students’ emotional well-being and interfere with learning. This talk will educate instructors on trauma-informed pedagogy and practices they can incorporate into the classroom to promote more inclusive and compassionate teaching.

The session aims to empower educators to navigate the complexities of trauma, fostering resilience and equity for a diverse range of students within the college classroom. For more information or any questions, please contact Danielle Maxwell at maxweldn@udmercy.edu.
