On June 18, Department Co-Chair and Professor of History Roy Finkenbine presented his talk “A History of Juneteenth” at both the Hannan Center in Detroit and the Northville District Library. Commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, Juneteenth has become the nation’s newest federal holiday.
