More than $30,000 in college scholarships are up for grabs for Detroit Mercy students through a business challenge, sponsored collaboratively by the Michigan Colleges Alliance and Ford College Community Challenge.
The Center for Social Entrepreneurship will be hosting an information session on the challenge on Jan. 11 from 12:45-1:30 p.m. in Commerce & Finance, room 138. Lunch and beverages will be provided.
Teams of 3-5 students will be challenged with coming up with innovative solutions to community problems, in partnership with a local non-profit organization. The competition is a two-part challenge with teams competing at the state level first, followed by going to the national level. There is $7,500 in scholarship money for the most compelling and actionable team proposals at the state level and an additional $25,000 awarded at the national level.
