NOTE: Due to inclement weather expected Wednesday, Feb. 22, Ash Wednesday Mass will NOT be offered at St. Ignatius Chapel, but instead will be offered to our residential students on the McNichols Campus in the lobby of Shiple Hall.
Ash Wednesday is on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Catholics mark this day by fasting and abstaining from meat. They mark their forehead with ashes as a sign of a desire to repent and to turn their hearts towards God.
Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a season of repentance and renewal leading up to Easter.
Ash Wednesday Mass schedule:
- McNichols Campus — Mass at noon in Shiple Hall lobby for all residential students. Ashes will also be distributed from 1-2 p.m. in the lobby of Shiple Hall. Reconciliation Service and Confessions are set for Thursday, Feb. 23 from 12:45-2 p.m. in St. Ignatius Chapel following the noon Mass.
- Riverfront Campus — Mass set for noon and 7 p.m. (Saints Peter and Paul Church). Please call the church to confirm these Masses or visit ssppjesuit.org.
