The Barbie movie has been celebrated as a feminist manifesto, decried as anti-male propaganda and criticized as “faux feminism.” But its impact and reach as a pop culture sensation are undeniable.

Why? What about the movie is striking a chord with so many women? Why is it making some viewers uncomfortable? Does it go far enough in its feminist message? Is it a feminist movie at all?

Join the Women’s and Gender Studies Program for a talk with Amanda Hiber, co-director of the program, for a talk which will be followed by a discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. in the Fountain Lounge of the Student Union.
