The National Organization of Minority Architecture Students (NOMAS) at Detroit Mercy’s School of Architecture & Community Development (SACD) has partnered with NOMAS at Andrews University to design and implement a Black History Month lecture series featuring three prominent Black designers.
The three lectures will take place Feb. 4, 18 and 25 at 5 p.m. and can be accessed virtually.
Yolande Daniels, cofounder of studio SUMO, is leading the first lecture on Feb. 4. Those interested in attending must register in advance.
Zachary Verhulst, founder and managing principal of Pure Architects, will host the Feb. 18 lecture, while the Feb. 25 lecture features Marques King, managing principal of Fabric[K] Design. Registration links for these lectures will be available at a later date.
Barring COVID-19 developments, SACD is also tentatively planning a closing exhibit in the exhibition space of the Loranger Architecture Building during the final week of February.
