January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and the College of Health Professions and McAuley School of Nursing will host a presentation and discussion on this very important issue on Jan. 15.

Triptych reading series returns with poet Brandon Som, Jan. 16
Detroit Mercy’s English Department welcomes back its Triptych series by hosting poet Brandon Som, winner of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Appalachia service immersion trip application deadline is Jan. 15
Service immersion trip to Joppa Mountain, Tenn., takes place during spring break, March 1-7. UDM students of all faiths or non-faiths are invited to apply for this opportunity. Participants will engage in hands-on service in the community around Joppa Mountain, including building homes, working in food pantries and learning about the systemic issues that contribute to poverty and displacement.
Mass schedule with the Jesuit community

UDM receives accreditation approval to launch new School of Optometry
This new school will be located in Novi, Mich., and is the 25th School of Optometry in the United States and the second in Michigan. The first class will begin in the fall of 2025 and prospective students can submit applications starting in December.
