Detroit Mercy is celebrating International Education Week by hosting several virtual and in-person events from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 14-17, all on the McNichols Campus.
Some of the events include an international student panel, study abroad info session, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant program panel and a gratitude dinner. Here’s the full list of events:
- Monday, Nov. 14 — International Student Panel (12-1 p.m.): A small panel will share their experiences and perspectives as international students. Open to students, faculty and staff. RSVP for event.
- Tuesday, Nov. 15 — Study Abroad Info Session (1-2 p.m.): Learn about the benefits and opportunities of studying abroad. Open to students. RSVP for event.
- Wednesday, Nov. 16 — Peace Corps Info Session (1-2 p.m., Commerce & Finance Building, Room 234): Our guest, Emily Nguyen, will share her experience as an environment volunteer in Guinea and explain how you can apply to the Peace Corps. Open to students, faculty and staff, both in-person and virtually. RSVP for virtual option.
- Wednesday, Nov. 16 — CLASA: UCA Martyrs and Joe Mulligan (4 p.m.): Commemoration on the anniversary of the UCA Martyrs of El Salvador and talks by Joe Mulligan, S.J., Bill O’Brien and Mary Anne Perrone. More at udmercy.edu/clasa.
- Thursday, Nov. 17 — Fulbright Opportunities (12:45-1:45 p.m.): Learn about the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program, including about global opportunities to travel and assist an English teacher abroad through this session. Hear firsthand from a Fulbright teaching assistant in Brazil about her experiences, how to apply and more. Open to students, faculty and staff. RSVP for event.
- Thursday, Nov. 17 — Gratitude Dinner (3-5 p.m., Fountain Lounge/Student Union): Join us for a traditional Thanksgiving meal with your fellow Detroit Mercy students in the Fountain Lounge of the Student Union.
International Education Week runs from Nov. 14-18.
