CLASA will host a celebration of the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, with a presentation by Peter Dougherty, S.J. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 5:15 p.m. in Room 317 of the Jane & Walter O. Briggs Building.
Fr. Dougherty will speak on how he combined Christian insights with the philosophy and nonviolent tactics of Gandhi in his own work with his organization: Meta/Michigan Peace Team. MPT has worked both nationally and internationally in nonviolent initiatives. Fr. Dougherty received the Jamnalal Bajaj International Award for Fostering Gandhian Values (outside of India) in 2010.
