The University is kicking off the annual Class Gift Campaign, which will ensure the University is able to continue guiding Titans towards a boundless future.
The campaign is a yearly initiative which allows the graduating class to collaborate with the University’s fund-development team to create a fundraising campaign in support of a high-impact project on campus selected by all 2023 graduates.
Jacqueline Elliott, assistant director of Annual Giving, emphasized the importance of this initiative.
“Our hope is to encourage participation in the campaign by all 2023 graduates,” she said. “We want to emphasize all gifts are important, no matter the amount and together the class of 2023, by giving back to Detroit Mercy, can make an impact on whatever project they choose to support.”
All gifts are a necessity for this initiative to be successful. 2023 graduates who are able to contribute a gift that matches their graduation year, $20.23, will receive a pin to wear during graduation to emphasize the impact UDM has had on their academic journey.
The 2023 Class Giving Campaign will run through April, which provides 2023 graduates more than enough time to participate.
Once the campaign concludes, all donations will be counted and announced to the class. Shortly after the announcement a poll will be sent to all 2023 graduates who will vote on a project to support.
This campaign will allow the Class of 2023 to allocate funding towards a project that will make our great school greater. Previous graduating classes decided to create a scholarship for returning students, plant a tree and even buy new chairs for the library.
Elliott is eager about this initiative and is actively looking for more Class of 2023 engagement.
“We are still looking for 2023 graduates to help lead the campaign,” she said. “Our hope is that students will invite their friends and play an active role in this process.”
Elliott said that students who are interested may make a gift at: 2023 Class Gift. Gifts can be made by using Venmo, ApplePay, GooglePay, PayPal and all major credit cards.
2023 graduates, give what was given and participate in a project that gives you the power to make real change at Detroit Mercy.
