Coming soon, University of Detroit Mercy will begin to collect permission from students and employees to send informational and promotional text messages to community members’ mobile devices.
Independent of the safety messages distributed through the Rave Alert system and the related messages sent to current McNichols students via the Tommy Titan system, the messages are anticipated to be geared towards notifying users of general and sporting events, calendar reminders and other non-emergency topics.
Standard data and text messaging rates from your carrier may apply. The new text messages are in compliance with the Telephone Consumer Privacy Act of 1991 (TCPA) and will provide an alternative method of communication between the University and the community.
University community members will have the opportunity to “opt-in” indicating their permission to receive such messages when logged into the my.udmercy.edu account under Personal Profile in the Action Items section. Users will also be able to turn-off messaging from this screen or can also do so by replying STOP on their mobile devices. Messaging is limited to five messages per month.
