Commencement ceremonies postponed

Commencement 2019 down the aisle In accordance with the Center for Disease Control’s COVID-19 guideline that gatherings of more than 50 people should not be held over the next eight weeks, the University has decided to postpone the 2020 commencement ceremonies.

“We know this is very disappointing news to our Class of 2020, but the safety of our students, their families and our staff takes precedence in this situation,” Detroit Mercy President Dr. Antoine Garibaldi said in a statement sent to the University community.

Over the next several months, Detroit Mercy will evaluate the possibility of rescheduling the ceremonies to a later date or having an appropriate celebration to honor the graduates.

After students complete their degree requirements, their degrees will be conferred and diplomas and transcripts will be available. More information will be coming from the Registrar’s Office.
