The annual Cushing Distinguished Lecture Series in Religious Studies is set for Wednesday, April 13 at 7 p.m. in the Architecture Exhibition Space in the Warren Loranger Architecture Building.
The George Pickering Memorial Lecture in Ethics will feature Willis Jenkins from the University of Virginia with his presentation, “Dominion Undone: A Contemplative Argument for the Rights of Nonhuman Creatures.”
The lecture is free and open to the public and includes a reception following the event.
Jenkins is Hollingsworth Professor of Ethics and chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia. He is the author of two-award winning books: Ecologies of Grace and The Future of Ethics. He is the co-editor of many other books, including the Routledge Handbook of Religion and Ecology, and author of many essays in environmental ethics.
