Professor of History Roy E. Finkenbine gave two plenary talks as part of a virtual conference on “Nineteenth-Century America: Fiends, Fugitives, and Friends,” June 2, The conference explored the intersection between African Americans and Indigenous peoples during that century. Finkenbine’s talks were titled, “Coexistence and Cooperation: How Native Americans Assisted Freedom Seekers in the Early Midwest” and “William Swan among the Greensky Indians: A Sanctuary Story.”
