Detroit Mercy will partner with Henry Ford Health System to host a conference titled “The Future of Healthcare: Application, Collaboration and Innovation” on April 7. This conference will bring experts together to discuss collaboration, application and innovation in the health professions field.
“The Future of Healthcare: Application, Collaboration and Innovation” will take place in the College of Health Professions Building on the McNichols Campus. This is the first in a series of annual conferences the College of Health Professions will host each year. Features of this conference include a keynote speaker, community panel and social opportunities designed to engage professionals at all stages of their careers. The purpose is to bring practicing health professionals together to discuss the role of collaboration, research, innovation and application of best practices within health care settings. In addition, participants can network with industry leaders and peers, which will help expand their knowledge of the health professions field.
The keynote speaker will be Jerome Hamilton, CEO of Open Therapeutics. Hamilton leads the company’s scale and global expansion, as well as manages business development, sales, marketing and investor relations. He joined Open Therapeutics after serving as Stratasys’ senior vice president of Global Operations. Prior to his role at Stratasys, he served as vice president of LEAN Six Sigma Operations, Corporate Quality and Acquisition Integration for 3M. He received his Master of Science in Engineering Management from Detroit Mercy in 1997 and is a graduate from the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Mary White, professor of Nursing in the College of Health Professions and a coordinator for this conference, believes this conference is important for a number of reasons.
“Inter-professional collaboration for research and scholarship is the future of healthcare. This conference provides opportunities for the community, students and faculty to highlight their accomplishments in all aspects of healthcare,” she said. “Participants will be able to network and meet with people from the university and community to learn and form relationship that can lead to future collaboration in healthcare related projects.”
