More than 1,500 alumni, students, friends and community neighbors joined in the fall festivities as Detroit Mercy celebrated Homecoming 2019 earlier this month.
“It is always thrilling to see so many of our alumni and students coming together and enjoying all the activities on campus,” said Peggy Pattison, director of Alumni Relations at Detroit Mercy. “As the event grows each year, we have seen a strong foundation for the Homecoming Weekend tradition we envisioned four years ago.”
Attendees soared across campus on a zip line and rolled dice in the numerous casino and carnival games lining Kassab Mall on Detroit Mercy’s McNichols Campus.
Pigskins flew behind Calihan Hall during a flag football tournament, bicyclists toured neighborhoods surrounding Detroit Mercy during the Tour du Titan bike ride and golfers hit the links at the School of Law’s fourth annual golf tournament.
A race car from the Detroit Grand Prix headlined an impressive display of vehicles at the Homecoming car show. The Veterans Lounge, located inside the Ford Life Science Building, was unveiled with a ribbon cutting, and numerous alumni groups returned to campus for reunions.
The Detroit Mercy men’s soccer team capped the Homecoming celebration with a thrilling match with University of Illinois at Chicago under Titan Field’s new lights, the second home night game in team history.
It was a memorable night for the Titans, as donors who helped make the lighting project possible were recognized during a pre-game ceremony. The installation of lights is the first step in a planned Athletic Village on Detroit Mercy’s McNichols Campus.
