The guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin in the trial of George Floyd’s murder was an important moment of accountability in the long struggle for racial justice. But that struggle is far from complete. Dismantling systemic racism requires understanding it. All Detroit Mercy students, employees and community members are invited to examine the “evil of racism” (U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops) and our personal and institutional commitment to become anti-racist. The Racial Justice Teach-in will be on Tuesday, May 11 from 1 to 4 p.m. on Zoom.
