Ss. Peter & Paul Jesuit Church in Detroit will celebrate the third Sneaker Mass in conjunction with this year’s virtual Detroit Free Press/TCF Bank International Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. Mass in the church will have limited seating and a Facebook Live stream for virtual viewing. A blessing for all runners and athletes will be given at the end of Mass.

Scholar-in-Residence Patrick Kelly, S.J. will deliver the Sneaker Mass homily. Fr. Kelly was an associate professor of theology and religious studies at Seattle University for 13 years, where he taught courses dealing with topics such as Ignatian spirituality, discernment, Jesuits in a global context, the quest for God today, religion and sport in a global context and sport and spirituality.
