A Night with the Titans Brings the City of Detroit Together
The first-ever Night with the Titans brought together more than 250 supporters of University Detroit Mercy and raised more than $110,000 for the University’s athletics programs.

The inaugural “An Evening with the Titans of Detroit” event will feature live music, fine dining, beverages and auction items at the Cambria Hotel in downtown Detroit. Several special guests in attendance will include Hall of Fame basketball coach Tom Izzo, NBA All-Star Derrick Coleman, Titan legend John Long and NBA champion Steve Smith.
The Department of Athletics is hosting its annual Titan Golf Outing on Friday, Aug. 8 at Links of Novi. All fans, alumni, supporters, students, staff and faculty are welcome to partake in a day of fun on the course.
The event features a FREE clinic for girls ages 6-12 includes skills instruction in various sports, a half-time performance and a post-game autograph session, as well as a T-shirt and swag bag. A women’s basketball game follows when the Titans take on Green Bay.

The third annual Road to Championship fundraiser, which directly benefits Titan Athletics, is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at The Corner Ballpark in Detroit. The event will feature special guest appearances, door prizes, and unique “experience” auction items.
Tryouts will be held on Monday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. in Calihan Hall. Potential student-athletes must be full-time students and in good academic standing, and also be available for practice and games. Potential student managers should have previous basketball experience and will travel with the team.
All Detroit Mercy staff and faculty will receive a free UDM tumbler when attending Thursday’s 3 p.m. women’s soccer match between the Titans and Chicago State from Titan Field.
The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France are under way and one former Titan is competing at the games with former men’s basketball student-athlete Bul Kuol playing with South Sudan. He joins the ranks of Titans who have competed in various sports over the years.
