U-M law professor to speak at Dewitt C. Holbrook Lecture on Social Justice, April 1

The sixth annual Dewitt C. Holbrook Lecture on Social Justice is set for Monday, April 1 from 5-6 p.m. at Detroit Mercy Law, Room 226. A reception will immediately follow the lecture in the atrium of the Riverfront Campus. The event is free.

Former national security prosecutor and current University of Michigan law professor Barbara McQuade will discuss the threat disinformation poses to our democracy, public safety and the rule of law in 2024’s lecture, titled “Attack from Within: How Disinformation is Sabotaging America.” It’s also the title of McQuade’s New York Times bestselling book.

The talk will address the history and tactics of disinformation, as well as the cognitive forces that allow these efforts to work. The talk will also shared some proposed solutions to help out society identify and defeat disinformation.

The lecture series is made possible through a grant from the Dewitt C. Holbrook Memorial Trust, providing prominent leaders in the legal profession a forum to address issues on law and policy related to social justice.
