Philanthropist, photojournalist and speaker Saul Flores is set to share his story of helping others to emphasize the value of servant leadership, service-learning initiatives and humanitarian projects. His virtual “Walk of the Immigrants” presentation will be shared with the Detroit Mercy community on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
In the presentation, Flores reflects on how he walked 5,328 miles through 10 countries and nine border crossings as a senior at North Carolina State University to document the difficult and dangerous journey for immigrants coming to the United States. Raising money for an elementary school in Atencingo, Mexico, Flores’ ventured from Ecuador to Charlotte, N.C. in three months.
Flores is nationally recognized for his social impact projects. His work has been featured on NPR, MSNBC and TEDx, and he’s served as a keynote speaker at dozens of universities.
