Detroit Mercy’s world-renowned paleontologist takes stage for National Geographic, Sept. 28

Nizar Ibrahim

University of Detroit Mercy Assistant Professor of Biology — and world-renowned paleontologist — Nizar Ibrahim’s adventures in hunting for dinosaur fossils in the Sahara Desert will take center stage on Friday, Sept. 28, when he presents, “Spinosaurus: Lost Giant of the Cretaceous,” a National Geographic Live event, at The Smith Center in Las Vegas.

The multimedia show will feature computer-generated imagery of what the prehistoric world would have looked like, complete with monstrous predators like the spinosaurus, the largest predatory dinosaur discovered to date, and Ibrahim will offer insight into the challenges of a Saharan expedition and how his discoveries have impacted science’s understanding of dinosaurs.
