Each year, the Detroit Mercy English Department honors Dudley Randall, the late poet, publisher and University of Detroit Mercy librarian and poet-in-residence, by sponsoring a poetry competition in his name. All undergraduate students at the University are eligible to submit poetry, and the prize is judged by a panel of published creative writers. This year’s judges were Claire Crabtree, Amanda Hiber, Michael Lauchlan, and Nick Rombes. Congratulations to the 2018-19 winners of the Dudley Randall Poetry Prizes:
1st Prize
Mary Elizabeth Johnson (English), “winter scars”
2nd Prize
Hannah Tillman (English and Psychology), “S. Franklin Street”
3rd Prize
Jasmina Cunmulaj (English and Psychology), “The In-Between”
Thank you to everyone who submitted their work and participated!
