The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) presents the mental health experience, “In Our Own Voice,” on Tuesday, March 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 114 of the Chemistry Building.
In Our Own Voice features two speakers sharing personal stories about living with, and adapting to, mental illnesses. The speakers discuss dark days, acceptance, treatment, coping skills, successes, hopes and dreams. This event is an opportunity for community members who struggle with mental health issues to gain confidence and reduce stigmas surrounding mental health. Wellness Center personal counselor Kristen Salem Carney will lead a post-presentation discussion about campus resources.
This event is hosted by the McAuley School of Nursing, Wellness Center and University Suicide Prevention Committee. The presentation is supported by a Mission Micro Grant.
