Every year after Halloween, more than 1 billion pounds of pumpkins end up in United States landfills. On Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., bring your pumpkins to the Livernois Entrance on McNichols Campus for a compost drive, sponsored by Detroit Mercy Campus Kitchen and Midtown Composting. By donating carved pumpkins, you will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from landfills and help generate nutrient-rich soil for urban gardens in Detroit.
Cider and doughnuts will be provided for a suggested donation to support Campus Kitchen. This drive is open to everyone and anyone looking to make a difference.
