Resident Advisor applications open online

Have you ever thought about becoming a Resident Advisor (RA)? Office of Residence Life is looking for new student leaders and mentors to help oversee our on-campus residents! Important Dates

Applications are due by March 1 at 9 a.m. Information sessions will be held on Monday, Feb. 22 at 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, Feb. 25 at 12:30 p.m. Register for an information session online.

Requirements

The following criteria must be met to apply for this RA position:

  • Hold a 2.5 GPA
  • Participate in the Bold Dialogues self-study by March 15
  • Create your own program proposal with flier by March 7
  • Submit three recommendations by March 22 using the RA Recommendation Form, including letters from
    • A current Residence Life Staff Member
    • A current Detroit Mercy Faculty/Staff Member
    • A mentor/employer that you are not related to/would not be considered a friend

Note: All relevant links will also be emailed to you within two business days of application submission. Each candidate is required to have three references.

Timeline

  • March 1 at 9 a.m. – Application due
  • Week of March 8 and March 15 – Individual interview
  • Week of March 22 – Group interview
  • March 22 – RA Recommendation forms due
  • April 13 – Announcements

Program Proposal Information

During the individual interview, you will be asked to present a program or activity for your hall or floor. You expect to have 20 participants and have been given a budget of $10 from your supervisor. The program will fall under the categories of Diversity or Spirituality. During your interview, you will present your program flier, a proposed shopping list and spending plan as well as discuss why you chose this activity/program. In addition, you must describe the educational outcomes your residents might gain from this program/activity. Fliers are due to alefsj@udmercy.edu by March 7.

Bold Dialogues Information

Bold Dialogues is a self-guided study that will be required of each of our RA applicants. Once you have applied, information regarding sign-up will be sent to your Detroit Mercy e-mail. Group interview process will be conducted in collaboration with Orientation Leader Group Process. If you apply for both positions, only one group interview is required.
