Emerson College Professor of Creative Writing Jerald Walker will present a talk and reading on Thursday. April 8 at 6:30 p.m. about his book, How to Make a Slave and Other Essays. This recent book was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Award.
Walker is a leading essayist on race. Reviewers stated that his recent collection “slices through this country’s agitated racial landscape with the tenacity of a thunderbolt.” His essays are widely anthologized, including five times in The Best American Essays.
