Wellness Center weekly tip, March 21

Test your marijuana knowledge:

  1. Is marijuana addictive? Yes. The CDC reports about 30% of individuals who use marijuana are considered addicted.
  2. Does smoking marijuana cause similar health effects to tobacco? More studies are needed, however it is known that smoking marijuana puts you at an increased risk for lung infections (according to the CDC) and exposes you to harmful carcinogens.
  3. Does marijuana use help with nausea and vomiting, or does it cause it? Trick question, both! Marijuana has been shown to help with the symptoms of nausea and vomiting, but chronic marijuana use can lead to Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome. It’s a condition that leads to severe nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
