Adria Parrino, Store Manager

Adria Parrino“I am the Store Manager of the University of Detroit Mercy Bookstore at the McNichols, Dental and Law campuses. I have been a manager for over 18 years. I graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelors in business administration in 2014; working hard to put myself through school and graduating at the top of my class.

“My passions are making those around me smile, even if they have had a hard day and making a difference in someone’s life. This is why I am so passionate about what I do on campus. I love being a part of the student life and partnering with campus to make a difference in the educational world and investing in the success of our students.

“I love spending time with my daughter, boyfriend, family, friends and dog. My favorite pastime with them is spending time outside and watching the sunset as the kids play in the yard. I enjoy bonfires, beaches and reading and most importantly I try and soak up every precious moment life offers.

“I am so excited to be a part of the University of Detroit Mercy family! Don’t forget to stop by soon to say hi and introduce yourself!”

Norma JallowNorma Jallow, Assistant Store Manager

“I am the Assistant Store Manager at University of Detroit Mercy, homing at McNichols campus.

“I have been with the University of Detroit Mercy Bookstore for over 20 years; starting at the Outer Drive campus and then moving to the McNichols campus in November 2000.

“I enjoy reading, yard work, spending time with family and traveling abroad. I have been blessed to visit Banjul, The Gambia; Dakar, Senegal; Dublin, Ireland and Havana, Cuba.”

Amelia Koziarski, Assistant Store Manager (Riverfront Campus)

Amelia Koziarski“I am the Assistant Store Manager at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Although being new to the College Bookstore family I have been in retail management and merchandising for almost 10 years. My passion for furthering my own knowledge, as well as for developing and investing in the success of others, drew me to this opportunity to work with students firsthand.

“Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner, playing music together, cooking and hiking with our collie, Malcolm. I have a great love of reading and you’d be hard pressed to find me without a book on my person.

“My merchandising experience and fondness for sourcing vintage clothing have led me to many unexpected and fulfilling creative ventures, like styling a historically accurate short film for the Gilmore Car Museum and hosting pop-up sales out of my home with local artists and vendors.

“What I value most about working in a service-oriented field is the people I get to meet, so please stop in and say hi!”

John Marchand

John Marchand“I started with the Barnes & Noble College at January Rush at Madonna University in 1995 as a temporary part-time Bookseller; the then-manager recommended I stay and got me an interview at the University of Detroit Mercy McNichols Bookstore. However, I ended up being stationed at the University’s Outer Drive location starting from February 1995 until it closed in April 2004; at that time I was assistant manager.

“I have been with the Barnes & Noble family for 27 years. I am a graduate of Wayne State University with a masters degree in microbiology.

“The only travel I have done is when I was sent to our Annual Shows, in Nashville and Orlando, and to new manager training in Boston, and to a bi-regional meeting outside of Cleveland. We ate at the famous Legals Restaurant while in Boston, home of the $45 swordfish dinner. I am a not-serious-enough fan of Amy Winehouse.”
