Detroit Mercy men’s basketball senior Antoine Davis was recently featured on his chase for Pete Maravich’s NCAA career scoring record in The Field of 68.
Davis, the all-time leading scorer in Titan basketball history at 2,734 points, is 933 points away from Pistol Pete’s career mark of 3,667. Davis is already 22nd in NCAA history entering the 2022-23 season.
While Davis is aware of where he is in the record books, it’s not his focus entering his senior campaign.
“I think about it,” he said. “Obviously, I’m gonna move up the scoring ladder. But it’s not my focus. I’m putting all my individual stuff on the side for this team. Knowing that I have the possibility is in my mind, but it’s not the main goal. The goal has always been to get to the NCAA tournament and win there.”
The Titans’ season begins on Tuesday, Nov. 8 against Rochester at Calihan Hall.
