On Monday, April 10, U.S. Congressman Shri Thanedar visited the McNichols Campus and University President Donald Taylor.
Thanedar, who represents Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, which includes much of Wayne County including the city of Detroit, Grosse Pointe and Downriver, received an overview of UDM and learned more about the institution’s history, mission and vision for the future.
This meeting also provided Taylor a chance to learn more about Thanedar’s priorities and ways UDM and his office could work together in the near future. Taylor, Thanedar and his wife toured campus via the Titan Taxi with the president behind the wheel.
Prior to earning election to Congress in 2022, Thanedar served in the Michigan House of Representatives. At the State Capitol he helped pass the largest increase in per-pupil funding for Michigan Public Schools in state history.
This visit is part of Taylor’s goal of giving the University a louder voice in government.
