Detroit Mercy welcomes Claire Schaefer-Duffy, a journalist with the National Catholic Reporter and the Catholic Worker, for a zoom webinar with the topic, Conversations on Nonviolent Action in a Time of War.

The webinar is set for Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Schaefer-Duffy will share her reflections on the importance of nonviolent action in our world today. She will tell us about her visit to Ukraine earlier this year, where she was reporting on the movement to nonviolently defend the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

She will also share reflections on her longtime commitments to nuclear disarmament and peace efforts. She’ll focus on the challenges of advocating for peace in a time of increasing calls for war and share how she responds to news of mounting casualties in ongoing conflicts.

The event is part of the Mercy Peace Forum, which hosts an online event each semester, support by four Mercy universities, Detroit Mercy included.

The webinar is free and open to the public.
