Need help understanding a tough concept? Preparing for an exam? Looking for a better way to study? You don’t have to figure it out alone.
At University of Detroit Mercy, the Student Success Center (SSC) is a place where students can find the support, resources and people they need to thrive academically.
The SSC’s peer tutoring program connects students with fellow Detroit Mercy students who understand the courses—and the challenges that come with them. This fall, 34 tutors are available to help students across a wide range of courses.
Tutors can help students work through challenging concepts, prepare for exams, develop effective study strategies and build confidence in their academic abilities. Tutoring is FREE to Detroit Mercy students and is available both in person and online.
The impact is clear: 94% of students who responded to the SSC’s most recent tutoring survey reported that tutoring improved their understanding of course concepts.
That’s more than getting help with a homework problem. It’s about helping students understand how to learn, so they can approach their next challenge with greater confidence and independence.
Scheduling is easy. Students can log in to My Portal, select TutorTrac under “Academic and Career Resources,” and search for their course to find available tutors and appointment times.
The SSC also provides college life coaching, academic exploration and major guidance, placement testing, testing services and other academic support designed to help students navigate college and reach their goals.
Located in Room 319 on the third floor of the McNichols Campus Library, the SSC is a place students can turn to throughout their Detroit Mercy journey.
