On May 14, Department Co-Chair and Professor of History Roy Finkenbine presented the paper “Caesar: Freedom Seeking as a Revolutionary Act” at Revolutionary Orbits, Revolutionary Arcs, the 29th annual meeting of the Omohundro Institute, the leading scholarly network for the study of early American history. The paper explores how Caesar found freedom during the American Revolution by escaping to Shawnee villages in the Ohio country, where he sought sanctuary.
