Students and staff of University of Detroit Mercy’s Titan Equity Nourish Network (TENN) were recognized for their work in delivering food to community members on Saturday, Sept. 18. Among those who helped recognize their accomplishments were State Sen. Marshall Bullock, Detroit City Councilman Roy McCalister and the Princeton Street Block Club.
TENN students were presented personalized certificates and both Bullock and McCalister shared words of appreciation on TENN’s impact in the community.
In 2020, TENN delivered over 31,000 pounds of fresh food to the community and in 2021, the organization has delivered roughly 1,000 pounds of food a week from Gleaner’s Community Food Bank to community members of Princeton Street and beyond, many of them senior citizens with limited access to fresh fruit and vegetables.
TENN, formerly Campus Kitchen, just recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in January 2021.
