As University of Detroit Mercy prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary, we have a meaningful opportunity to recognize the women who have shaped our institution and continue to influence its future. In honor of this milestone, the University will spotlight notable women from across our history during Women’s History Month next March.
We invite you to take a few moments to reflect on the women, past and present, who have inspired you, mentored others, led with purpose or quietly made a lasting difference in our community. Whose contributions should be remembered? Whose story deserves to be shared?
Throughout March 2027, we will feature a daily spotlight celebrating women from across our 150-year history—from Mercy College and University of Detroit to today’s University of Detroit Mercy.
Members of the Detroit Mercy community are invited to submit nominations for women who have made lasting contributions to our institution, community and world. Nominees may include past or present faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, Sisters of Mercy, athletes or other members of our community whose work reflects the mission and values of Detroit Mercy.
Nominations representing every era of our institution are encouraged so that together we tell a rich and inclusive story of the women who have helped shape our University and continue to inspire our future.
We encourage nominations of women who have:
- Made meaningful contributions to the University’s academic, administrative, student life or community initiatives
- Embodied Mercy and Jesuit values
- Advanced scholarship, teaching, professional practice or institutional excellence
- Served as impactful mentors, educators or leaders
- Contributed to their profession or community
- Demonstrated leadership, innovation or emerging potential (including current students)
Submission deadline is Friday, Aug. 7.
