Founder’s Week celebrates both Catherine McAuley and St. Ignatius of Loyola with a number of special events beginning Friday, Sept. 19, and running through Sunday, Sept. 28.
These half-day retreats are designed to create space for reflection, dialogue, and connection to the University of Detroit Mercy’s mission in ways that enrich both professional and personal life.
Join us for a panel discussion to explore the intersections of Catholic social thought, Mercy critical concerns, Jesuit universal apostolic preferences and the work of Jesus, the first DEI officer.
Detroit Mercy School of Law unveiled portraits of the Jesuit and Mercy religious founders — St. Ignatius of Loyola (founder of the Society of Jesus) and Venerable Catherine McAuley (founder of the Sisters of Mercy) — on Nov. 7.
Do you need seed money for creative grassroots-level explorations and promotions of Detroit Mercy’s mission? Apply for a Mission Micro-Grant here.
Students are invited to join University Ministry, in partnership with TENN, for a day of learning about food access, sustainability and urban farms in the city of Detroit. Through the lens of our mission and identity as Jesuit and Mercy, we will reflect on a faith that does justice.
A number of Detroit Mercy faculty and administrators from the McNichols, Riverfront and Corktown campuses participated in the Conference for Mercy Higher Education’s Mercy Roundtable from May 30-June 1.
The McNichols Campus is a bit more interesting with the addition of a sculpture commissioned by alumnus Tom Page ’71, ’76. The as-yet-unnamed sculpture honors and reflects the University’s Jesuit and Mercy foundations, traditions and values and paying homage to Detroit Mercy’s bright future.
